In today’s live stream, Pete covers two concepts: identifying the thin line between personal responsibility/asking for help and how to stop nickel and diming yourself. Catch up here:
Tricky balancing act
Where does the line between taking personal responsibility end and the need to ask for help begin? There is no clear and fast rule but if you are in a position where you are out of work, file for unemployment. It’s what it’s there for. Don’t wait until things are dire. Act fast and get yourself into a position where you have some income coming in.
Times are difficult but if you are struggling, reach out. It doesn’t appear that things are going to turn around overnight. Ask for help early before your bills start stacking up.
Nickels & Dimes
This is for those of you on the other end of the spectrum. Whose jobs are safe. Whose savings are full. Though you are blessed and secure, it’s still time to pare down and be careful. Do you need that $50 a week massage? Do you need that $39.99 deodorant of month club membership? When times are good these small expenses don’t matter as much, but as the world slows down, so should your finances. Make sure you are taking care of your self mentally and physically, but also be aware of the financial impact. A night walk with a 6-foot perimeter is free. A big deep breath on your back porch in the middle of the day is free.
